Post-Operative Hair Loss Treatment Products

There are wide arrays of shampoos and conditioners available as the hair loss treatment products to be used specifically for post-surgical care. These post-operative hair loss treatment products can offer better recovery and better growth of hair transplants after the hair transplant surgery.

These hair replacement shampoos, conditioners are special hair loss treatment products which are extremely gentle on the scalp and have ingredients that help in healing at the donor and recipient surgical sites.

Additionally, these hair restoration products help reduce the appearance of scars. These hair loss treatment products are made especially for the hair transplant patients for post-surgical use. Since these hair loss products are to be used just after the hair transplant surgery they have unique formulations like the comforting aloe vera gel or essential copper peptide micronutrients. The copper peptide micronutrient-based hair loss products help to control crusting at the transplant site and have enhancing effect on the wound healing.

While these are not the actual hair loss treatment products or hair growth products, they help with improved healing and it is the better healing that results in better hair growth after the surgery. This special line of products can be better called as post-operative products. GraftCyte and Tricomin are the two examples of such pos-operative products which are commercially available.

Some post-operative products are available as spray for hydrating the graft sites. Foil-wrapped sets of copper peptide saturated gauzes are the specially designed post-operative care products are also available. These copper-peptides are meant to be used for the first three post-operative days.

A gel to be placed on the donor incision in the back of the head is also offered for better healing of the donor area.

All of these post-operative interventions may lead to improved, more rapid healing and can also offer the additional benefits as post-operative hair loss treatment products to promote more rapid growth of the transplanted hair.

Tricomin, a second generation compound available as a copper-peptide spray, is the latest post-operative product available in the market. It delivers a specific copper/peptide micro molecule to the hair follicle stimulating its growth. This compound contains copper ion complex with conjugated peptides (proteins). This special molecule is known to have both skin repair and hair growth enhancement effects. Tricomin did undergo FDA Phase 2 clinical studies and was shown to cause hair growth in the transplanted follicle. It is believed that Tricomin stimulates hair growth primarily through follicle protein synthesis and activation of the hair cycle by releasing the copper and delivering it to the root of the follicle.

Some hair surgeons recommend the application of copper-peptide gauzes for first three post-operative days as these seem especially beneficial to stimulate growth.
